Karma

Karma  is a concept of Hinduism which describes a system in which beneficial effects are derived from past beneficial beauty and harmful effects from past harmful actions, creating a system of actions and reactions throughout a soul's ( jivatman's )  reincarnated  lives, [1]  forming a cycle of rebirth. The causality is said to apply not only to the material world but also to our thoughts, words, actions, and actions that others do under our instructions. Karma is the manifestation of good deeds we do ourselves and others.  Although most westerners have heard of karma, there's still a lot of confusion about what it means. For example, many seem to think that karma is only about being rewarded or punished in the next life. And it may be understood that way in other Asian spiritual traditions, but that's not exactly how it is understood in Buddhism. 

Vibhuti (sacred ash)

There are many aspects to the usage of  vibhuti  or sacred ash. First of all, it is a great medium to transfer or transmit energy, and it has an ability to help direct and control the energy body. Apart from that, there is a symbolic significance to applying it on the body. It is a constant  reminder of the mortal nature of life  – it is like you are always wearing mortality on your body. Vibhuti  or  Bhasma  is referred to as the holy or sacred ash in English. The  vibhuti is largely used by the Shaivite cult of Hindus who consider Lord Shiva as their principal deity. It is primarily applied on the forehead as a single horizontal line or three horizontal lines. The  bhasma  is primarily prepared from cow dung although rice husk and dried wood from burning dead bodies are also used to produce the holy ash in some cases.
